Blocking Callers

Top  Contents  Index

A popular use for Ascendis Caller ID is to block calls from certain people.  In this case Ascendis Caller ID is configured to hang up the phone when specific callers are recognized.  While this is easy to do, please remember that all calls from the configured caller will be blocked.  If you block, for example, "Out of Area" calls, many potential callers will be blocked.

Also remember that Ascendis Caller ID doesn't receive the caller information until after the first ring.  This means you will still hear the phone ring once, and maybe twice, depending on your phone system, modem, and computer.

To block calls for a specific caller:

1) Find the caller in the call list.  Right-click on the call and select "Add to Contacts" or "Edit Contact" depending on which appears.  The "Edit Contact" window appears.

2) Change "Action" to "Block".

3) Click the "OK" button to save the changes and close the window.

Note: If you're using a Whozz Calling? device which supports call blocking, remember that all phone devices must be wired in series after the Whozz Calling? device for this to work properly.  Please consult your Whozz Calling? manual for details.
