Modem known to work in Australia

A modem known to work in Australia in the Netcomm Roadster 5055 v.92 USB modem.

I have a modem that will display the caller ID and it does, but if it is a private number it tells me it is blocked, or if I use 1831 it tells me it is blocked.
I know I do not have the correct driver for my modem and its so old its not funny, but if I get this modem listed here for australia and works right out of the box, will it give me the caller ID of private numbers or numbers with the 1831 prefix?

No. The phone company does not send the name or phone number for blocked calls, it only sends a code indicating the call is blocked. Most caller id devices report "PRIVATE" or "ANONYMOUS CALLER" in this case, and most modems report "P".
For blocked callers, the best you can do is ignore the call or tell Ascendis Caller ID to hang up on it. Or, some phone companies let you block blocked calls so the phone never rings.

So there is no way to get that info then, oh well thanks anyway I was hoping that info was passed on as well. So how do ISP's and other companies get this info is it a special service or something?

In the US, companies using toll-free service have access to Automatic Number Identification (ANI). (I assume the same or similar service is available in other countries.) Using ANI, companies can get the caller's information even if the caller blocked caller id for the call. Caller ID and ANI are separate, distinct technologies. I'm not familiar with the equipment required to capture ANI.
