I recently bought a TIVO and turned on TIVO server. I can see my contacts, calls and actions on the TIVO, but I was expecting a pop up on the TIVO on an incoming call. Is this possible? I was thinking it worked like the Cable Co. digital phone service, on a call a small box appears in the corner of the TV with caller Id information.

That would be nice, wouldn't it! But the official TiVo software doesn't support pop-ups.

Someone did a hack for some version of the TiVo software that could display caller id information over the viewed program. There is also a version of the YAC listener that works on some TiVos, and Ascendis Caller ID now supports YAC, so you could try that:

It looks like you would install the TiVo YAC listener on the TiVo, and then enable the YAC server in Ascendis Caller ID. If your version of Ascendis Caller ID doesn't show the YAC subpage on the Network page (in Options) then you need to download the beta version:
