Message Waiting detection

Does anyone know of a solution to get the status from the telco's "Message Waiting" indicator through a modem?
I'd like to set actions on the PC based on the fact that there are messages waiting (send e-mail, play a wav file every 5 minutes, etc...)

Currently there is no way to do this directly from Ascendis Caller ID.

Depending on your modem and how your phone company indicates message waiting status, you might be able to detect it using HyperTerminal if you put your modem into MESG mode. This is usually enabled with the same command to enable caller id, but with a value of "2" instead of "1". For example, "AT+VCID=2" enables MESG mode for some modems.
