Ascendis Caller ID beta version 4.0.0.2 now available

Post by Bill Root »

This version can coexist with version 3, with the following caveats:
  • We don't recommend running Ascendis Caller ID version 3 and version 4 at the same time. Besides the obvious confusion, in many cases only one program can access the modem or Whozz Calling? device at once.
  • If you later decide to uninstall Ascendis Caller ID version 3, don't delete the data. You will be prompted during uninstall whether to keep or delete the data. If you delete the data, it will delete the data for all versions of Ascendis Caller ID. This does not happen with the version 4 uninstaller, but it's better to be safe and never delete the data, or back it up first. The data is normally stored in C:\ProgramData\Ascendis Software\Ascendis Caller ID.
In spite of the caveats, it makes sense to keep version 3 around while trying out version 4, but you probably won't be able to run both of them at the same time. The version 4 installer disables version 3 autolaunch.

Version 4 will offer to copy the data and settings from version 3 when first launched, if version 3 is installed.

Version 4.0.0.2 includes the following changes from the previous beta release:
  • support most contact fields in contacts web pages (see Webroot\contacts_detailed.html)
  • support most call fields in calls web pages (see Webroot\calls_detailed.html)

As always, bug reports and feedback are appreciated.

Thanks Bill - love you've been able to add the few things I previously asked about so quickly.

Currently on 4.0.0.2 and noticed a slight bug with the new "Save Calls Report" / "Load Calls Report" function - when saving a report, it doesn't appear in the "Load Calls Report" menu until the program is completely exited and re-launched. Also, can there be a way to remove any previously saved reports that are no longer needed (e.g. if someone creates lots of them then wants to delete some of their obsolete ones)?

Hi Aaron,

That's certainly not how it's designed to work, nor how it worked on my development computer. However, I was able to reproduce this on a different computer. This will be fixed in the next beta release, which should be soon.

Yes. I added a menu command to delete a report which will be included in the next beta release. In the interim, you can delete the underlying files from the "Calls Reports" folder, located in the Ascendis Caller ID data folder. This is normally

Code: Select all

C:\ProgramData\Ascendis Software\Ascendis Caller ID\4\Calls Reports

Hi Aaron,

I just uploaded a new beta version (4.0.0.3) that should fix the calls report load menu problem you found. I also added a menu option to delete calls reports. If you still see problems, please tell me so I can fix it.

Finest regards,
