Resources for Researching Unwanted Callers

Here are some resources I found for researching the telephone numbers of nuisance callers. Some are more useful than others; it would be kind of neat if the 3 site operators would combine their efforts and build a single "super site" utilizing the best features from each.

http://whocallsme.com/
http://whocalled.us/

Anyway, I would be interested to see if people are aware of any other similar sites, or which ones they find most useful (& why).

Here is another resource, called Local Calling Guide:

http://www.localcallingguide.com

It's a bit technical and I think aimed at professionals in the telecommunications field. Anyway, you can look up the name of the telephone company (and contact info) that provides services for a given number.

For example, if you wanted to find out who provides service to the idiot who calls you from 1-802-681-4148, you just go to the main page, click on "Area code/prefix", to bring up the "Area code/prefix search" page, and then enter the following:
  • NPA: "802" (this I guess is the technical term for area code)
    NXX: "681" (the prefix)
Block: "4" (the first part of "4148")
With the above example, you find that the number is in Bennington Vermont and that the service provider is Level 3 Communications.

I hope people will find this helpful, and post other useful resources.
