Moving License

Post by AReed »

The current computer running caller id is an old Xp service pack 1 machine. Am trying to consolidate computer roles. What do I need to do to move the program / data / license to a new machine. New machine will be running server 2008, so I would like to run it as a service.

Hi AReed,

How to transfer Ascendis Caller ID to a new computer

1) Install Ascendis Caller ID on the new computer. You can download the installer from our website:
2) Backup the database from the old computer using "Backup Database..." on the "File" menu
3) Copy the database file to the new computer
4) Restore the database on the new computer using "Restore Database..." on the "File" menu
5) Install your registration(s) on the new computer
6) Configure the settings on the new computer (using the Options window) as desired
(There is currently no easy way to copy the settings to the new computer. If you've made many changes and you're familiar with RegEdit, it might be easier to export the settings from the registry on the old computer and import them into the new computer. Ascendis Caller ID 2 stores the settings in
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Ascendis Software\Ascendis Caller ID\2
In any case you will need to reconfigure the devices since device settings are machine specific.)

The current version of Ascendis Caller ID does not include a service mode. Some users have had success using FireDaemon to run it as a service:
