Network Port Usage

Top  Contents  Index

Ascendis Caller ID currently supports two servers for communicating between client and server: real-time and polling.  Each runs on a separate port.  The real-time server runs on the configured port, and the polling server runs on the configured port + 1.  Thus, if the port setting is left at the default value, then we have the following:

Server

Port

Real-time

62965

Polling

62966

This is true regardless of whether the real-time and/or the polling server is enabled.  That is, assuming the default port configuration, if just the real-time is enabled, it will use port 62965.  If just the polling server is enabled, it will use port 62966.  If both are enabled, the real-time server will again use 62965, and the polling server will again use 62966.

Ascendis Caller ID also supports a Web/TiVo server.  This runs on the configured port, which defaults to 80.

When the TiVo server is enabled and the TiVo Beacon service was not installed, the TiVo Beacon servers are also enabled.  These both run on port 2190.  This port number is fixed and specified in the TiVo Connect Automatic Machine Discovery Protocol Specification.

If the TiVo Beacon service was installed, the service (TiVoBeacon.exe) will have port 2190 open instead of Ascendis Caller ID.
